The Conjuring 2 now showing at Bridgnorth Cinema daily at 5:30pm and 8:20pm.
Based on the most infamous case of paranormal activity in the UK, the 1977 Enfield Case, Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) investigate a home in which a single mother (Francis O’ Connor) and her four children are being terrorised by the ghost of it’s former occupant; a 74 year old man known as ‘Bill Wilkins’.
The Enfield Poltergeist story is adapted by director James Wan into a rare bright spot in the slowly declining horror genre. It excellently focuses on building atmosphere with lighting and the use of angles to depict the haunted environment of the house itself. Other influences used range from The Haunting to Alfred Hitchcock – films that use psychology to further themes of paranoia and insecurity.
