Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s Bridgnorth

‘It’s All about Love’ – that’s the theme behind the Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s Bridgnorth

The festival is celebrating the High Street, the schools, the young people in the town and the church.

Rev Sarah Cawdell said; “At Christmas we receive from God the generous gift of Jesus. So it’s super that our town, our schools, our businesses and our families and friends have joined forces in the project.”

Thank you to our schools and young people who have made the scenes from the Christmas Story; they include St Mary’s School, St Leonard’s School, the Bridge Bar and Little Stars St Mary’s.”

Each business has decorated a tree which has a special significance to the Christmas story:

The Flower Shop –  In colour and beauty we celebrate God’s creation.

Mother’s Goodies – In light and scent we sense the beauty of God.

Christmas Presence – Unpacking presents is such fun. As Jesus grows God is made present to us, and gives us life.

Violet’s Tea Rooms – There was no room for Jesus in the inn, He was welcomed by angels and shepherds round the back.

Looking Glass – The story of Jesus is old and still new. God’s love is still living in me and for you.

Mike and Sarah’s Butcher – At Christmas time we make a feast to remember the generosity of God to us all.

Maximum Health – When all creation was made God said, “It is good.” Here we celebrate the good gifts of creation.

Evenett Optometrist – See the world through God’s eyes: look at Jesus.

This, That and The Other – All things work together for good in the loving mercy of God, to bring good to all of us.

Tanner’s – We give thanks to God for wine that makes our hearts glad, and for the generous spirit of Christmas.

Foxall’s – Light up the world this Christmas and follow the star.

Oxfam – Jesus came to show God’s love to us: with acts of kindness we share that love with others.

The Piano Practice – Psalm 150: Give praise to God on harp and lyre, let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Robin’s Hardware – God is as present to us in the mundane jobs as in church. Likewise we can be present to God at all times.

Bakers & Cooks – Martha in the kitchen prepared food for Jesus and his disciples. She was a friend of Jesus.

Alley Katz Toy Shop – God made the world for delight and pleasure. Watching children at play we share in that delight.

Bridgnorth Pet Shop – God created all creatures and saw that they were good. We give thanks for the friendship and loyalty of pets.
Becs Coffee Shop – God’s house is open to all, offering comfort and welcome. When we share hospitality we share God’s love.

Roobarb – God clothes us with garments of praise and joy through the love of Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes.

The Church is open in daylight hours and the Christmas trees will remain until January 6th
