Bridgnorth Sinfonia will be performing their ‘Proms in the Pews’ concert this year in St Mary’s Church, East Castle Street, Bridgnorth on Saturday June 10th. Conductor Dr James Ross will lead the players through a varied programme including Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutti and excerpts from Bizet’s Carmen sung by tenor Ian McFarlane. Proms favourites will include Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance, Eric Coates Dambusters and Rule Britannia. Oldbury Wells Upper School Choir ‘Encore’ will also be singing a selection of classic show songs.
For the Sinfonia Kate Bedford said, “The proms in the pews has become a popular diary date for music lovers and this years event will be no exception. We have recently added three new string players to the orchestra and on June 10th we will also be joined by double bass player Patrick Philip, currently studying music in London.” The event commences at 4.00pm and tickets, priced £6, are available, in advance, from Bridgnorth Town Council Offices. Licenced bar refreshments will also be available.
