Thanks to prize money from Bridgnorth’s Great British High Street win – Bridgnorth is sending out a ‘welcome back’ message to visitors and residents alike with 4 huge banners which will be positioned around the town with the message ‘shop local on our award winning High Street’.
Love Bridgnorth was instrumental, together with Cllr Sarah Stevens and her ‘Buy Big in Bridgnorth’ campaign, in securing Bridgnorth’s win in the Government’s Great British High Street competition – large market town category back in 2016. Bridgnorth narrowly defeated Market Harborough and Hinckley and were presented with the award at a reception at Lancaster House in London.
The message is ‘welcome back – but with a caution’ – please stay safe – be kind and courteous and considerate of others. Bridgnorth retailers have been brilliant throughout the pandemic – supporting each other through a WhatsApp group – sharing information around safe opening and working collaboratively together.
Many retailers have embraced Love Bridgnorth’s ‘Lets Get Local’ campaign as the town comes out of lockdown. Sally Themans of Love Bridgnorth has gone on to be a judge at the Great British High Street Awards 2019 and has advised government about local level engagement.
